Summer Days

Summer is here! We say welcome to warm weather, playing outside, swimming at the lake, endless sunscreen, water squirts, swim suits, star-gazing, farmer's markets, playgrounds, garden peas, allergies, hummingbirds, demolition derby, rodeos, carnivals, flyfishing (except for Austin, who's in the river in JANUARY), boating with Moms & Dads, camping, summer hiking & SUNSHINE!

Needless to say, we are so excited for summer. We went to the lake twice this week, and are going again on Saturday with the whole family. Austin is teaching Ethan to swim & are having grand water fights that usually end up with me getting soaked as well! We made completos the other night (its a Chilean "uber" hot dog with lots of veggies & stuff) which were SO good. Greg knows what I'm talking about... Can you get any more in your mouth Aust?

We went to Rainbow Bay with Charlie & Dona last time & had fun kayaking & swimming. Austin caught s carp & was SO proud of Aubrey who reached for it just as the photo was snapped! That's our girl... She turned 5mo old today - time is going way too fast.

Ethan has discovered the joy of the Farmer's Market... mostly because he got a shaved ice & a cotton candy - you can see the before & after evidence! It only we could describe the sugar rush afterward!
Good thing its at the park where there's lots of energy burning stuff to do! Ethan discovered the monkey bar dome & now knows he can't hang on with one hand anymore... blisters & the lovely scrape on his forehead. (sigh) Boys...

Father's Day

We had a great week! Ethan got to go up to 6 Lakes with Grandma Dona & Grandpa Charlie for the Haacke family reunion for 4 days & had a blast! He loved playing on the dock with his water squirt, catching crawdads fishing & kayaking. Did I mention that he liked the dock & his water squirt? Grandma said he didn't want to leave! I wouldn't either, its so fun up there. I wish we had photos of him. Oh well... Austin, Aubrey & I spent time at home (lonely) in our too-quiet house working, playing Wii Fit, sewing diapers & digging in the garden. We were happy to have Ethan home again - it's too boring without him.

We went to Grammi's for Father's Day dinner - dutch oven is the best! Mom, you can be my dutch oven chef anytime! The pineapple chicken wings were the BEST! But the D.O. Apple cake was pretty amazing too. It was nice to see our family, play in the sandbox with Ethan & watch Daddy & Aubrey have a well-deserved nap... Aubrey says: "Daddy is the best pillow!" I agree. Dad's are just the greatest!

St George Water Park Photos

We just got these photos from Mom's camera... In St George, they built a new "water park" by the new library that is so much fun! There is a big water fountain that the two E's (Ethan & cousin Eli) loved playing in - as you can see, it was almost impossible to get them to each look at the camera at the same time. Ethan's favorite part was running in the little stream that goes the length of the park. The boys had fun splashing each other & playing chase. Ethan liked the big fountain the most, until he got a surprise squirt in the face - but who wouldn't be mad at that? I also took Aubrey for her first dip in the water - I think it was a bit cold on little toes. Oh well, maybe next year -though if she's anything like her mommy, daddy & big brother we won't be able to get her out of the water! She liked it much better sitting in the shade with Granny Morton & Grammie. Thanks for the great discovery Jen, we can't wait to go again this Fall!
